ABC Leeds is a voluntary support group for families who have children or young people with or without a diagnosis of autism/Asperger syndrome. We offer advice and support on any issues concerning or surrounding autism and do this via monthly drop in at Leeds Central Library, monthly evening meetings, Facebook, twitter, email or the telephone and a monthly information sheet that advertises not only what we do as a group but whatever is happening in and around autism in Leeds.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability. We deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through skilled teams who work with children and young people aged 0-18, and their families. The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Community Service provides specialist goal-orientated neurorehabilitation delivered in the child’s environment, either at home, in school, or a combination of both settings. Delivered by specialists from a range of clinical backgrounds, we work with the child and their family in a non-intensive, consultative way focusing on the needs which result from an acquired brain injury. These may be social, emotional, cognitive, communicative, and behavioural needs. Our ultimate goal is to maximise the child/young person’s participation in their everyday life. In partnership with Leeds Children’s Hospital, we have a clinical specialist based in the hospital who provides information, education, advice and support to families and other professionals. In addition, we also provide long-term support to the child and their family at key transition stages such as starting school, moving to secondary school or college, starting a new job or leaving home to live independently for the first time. In addition, The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Hub […]

LWCA is a charity, established since 1998 which exists to provide short breaks for children and young people with additional needs. There are 4 projects within Leeds Weekend Care Association. Weekenders Club: Essentially is a play scheme operating from Vine Education Centre in Leeds 6. We are open Saturdays and Sundays 47 weekends per year from 10.00 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. There are places for 136 children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. Each child/young person gets to come to their session once a month. We operate on a minimum of 2 staff to 1 child but this ratio fluctuates according to the needs of each child/young person. Lots of our clients have medical needs or high supervisory needs which means we would often have 1:1 supervision. We are supported by volunteers in this project. Voluntary contribution – £22.00 per session. The Out and About Project: Is for teenagers with inclusive needs between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. We organise 6 outings per month and invite young people on our register to those events. During term time the events are between Monday and Friday in the evenings. In the school holidays, day trips are […]
