Interplay Theatre tours annually to arts venues and SEN schools with sensory theatre work specifically designed for young people with complex needs. With a strong aesthetic and touching narratives, our performances give young people with PMLD the chance to experience high quality theatre in school, like other young people their age. From our theatre building in Armley, we run our community programme, LS12 Creative and we offer open days, performances, projects and sessions for young people with Additional Needs.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability. We deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through skilled teams who work with children and young people aged 0-18, and their families. The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Community Service provides specialist goal-orientated neurorehabilitation delivered in the child’s environment, either at home, in school, or a combination of both settings. Delivered by specialists from a range of clinical backgrounds, we work with the child and their family in a non-intensive, consultative way focusing on the needs which result from an acquired brain injury. These may be social, emotional, cognitive, communicative, and behavioural needs. Our ultimate goal is to maximise the child/young person’s participation in their everyday life. In partnership with Leeds Children’s Hospital, we have a clinical specialist based in the hospital who provides information, education, advice and support to families and other professionals. In addition, we also provide long-term support to the child and their family at key transition stages such as starting school, moving to secondary school or college, starting a new job or leaving home to live independently for the first time. Forum Central is the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds, delivered in partnership by Leeds Older People’s Forum and Volition. Our vision is a better quality of life for people in Leeds. We connect third sector organisations in Leeds with decision makers in health and social care. We influence strategic developments, policy and ways of working across health and social care. This includes links with the Local Authority, NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Local Care Partnerships (LCPs) in Leeds. Our work is informed, driven and led by our members. With a membership network of around 300 organisations we are the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds. We coordinate specialist networks that focus on: Communities of Interest (COIN) Learning disability Men’s health (Men’s Health Unlocked) Mental health Older people Physical and sensory impairment Workforce (HR Network) Forum Central supports over 40 third sector representatives, who perform a range of representative and advocacy roles in Leeds. Reps attend a wide range of meetings in the city from the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWWB) to the various population boards. We keep the third sector informed, connected and visible.

Gain an understanding into the four areas of difference and what your staff can do to promote an inclusive environment for children and adults on the Autistic spectrum Autism training for childminders Training for childminders looks at the theory of Autism and how you can have a better understanding of Autism in your setting. Certificate of attendance will be given upon completion of course. Understanding Autism for parents and carers Our training for parents/carers is designed to meet the needs of all children both pre and post diagnosis. This course often gives parents the first experience of speaking to other parents/carers who have been through a similar process. Our course aims to provide parents and caregivers with the theoretical knowledge in understanding Autism. We also cover Autism specific strategies to be used within the home environment.
