Interplay Theatre tours annually to arts venues and SEN schools with sensory theatre work specifically designed for young people with complex needs. With a strong aesthetic and touching narratives, our performances give young people with PMLD the chance to experience high quality theatre in school, like other young people their age. From our theatre building in Armley, we run our community programme, LS12 Creative and we offer open days, performances, projects and sessions for young people with Additional Needs.

Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service offers high quality, person centred, radical and innovative services to people experiencing mental health crisis. We are open when many other services are closed. We provide free, confidential, non-judgemental, non-directive, empathic and respectful support.We have services for adults and young people in Leeds, and West Yorkshire. SERVICES AVAILABLE IN LEEDS, WF3, WF10, BD4, & BD11: FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: Teen Connect Helpline Teen Connect is a helpline for 11-18 year-olds, up until their 19th birthday. We can offer up to an hour of support either by phone, text or online chat. Offering emotional support and someone to talk to. No referral process or threshold for support – if you want to talk we are here for you. We can also support parents/carers on Teen Connect. Open 3.30pm-2am Monday to Friday, 6pm – 2am Saturday and Sunday – call 0808 800 1212 and ask for Teen Connect http://www.teenconnect.org.uk Safe Zone offers face-to-face in-person support for young people aged 11-17 and their parent/carers across 2 locations in Leeds. Barca-Leeds is a community-based charity, a registered company limited by guarantee. We are an organisation that delivers transformational projects for adults, children, young people and families in Leeds, connection them with our services that respond to the needs of each individual. We help people overcome the barriers they face in fulfilling their potential by delivering advice, support and guidance, at a community and individual level. This includes people who may have complex needs and have been excluded from other services as a result. We offer a range of one to one support services as well as social, peer and themed group-based activities.

Communication Matters (CM) is a UK-wide charity committed to supporting people of all ages who find talking difficult because they have little or no clear speech. This can be via paper based communication supports or computer based voice output, we call this AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Communication can be compromised across many conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Brain Injury, Learning Difficulties and Autism. We have an associate membership of around 400 people. Members come from across the UK and from all the various interests in AAC – personal experience, professional, commercial and research. Members receive copies of our Journal which is published 3 times a year, amongst other benefits. We hold a number of events: most notably our International AAC Conference held over 2.5 days at the University of Leeds each September, as well as UK-wide AAC Information Days (product demonstration days) and Study Days which focus on a particular topic of AAC. We also have many online resources and publications and an AAC Forum. If you are interested in finding out more, please do not hesitate to contact us.
