Forum Central is the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds, delivered in partnership by Leeds Older People’s Forum and Volition. Our vision is a better quality of life for people in Leeds. We connect third sector organisations in Leeds with decision makers in health and social care. We influence strategic developments, policy and ways of working across health and social care. This includes links with the Local Authority, NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Local Care Partnerships (LCPs) in Leeds. Our work is informed, driven and led by our members. With a membership network of around 300 organisations we are the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds. We coordinate specialist networks that focus on: Communities of Interest (COIN) Learning disability Men’s health (Men’s Health Unlocked) Mental health Older people Physical and sensory impairment Workforce (HR Network) Forum Central supports over 40 third sector representatives, who perform a range of representative and advocacy roles in Leeds. Reps attend a wide range of meetings in the city from the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWWB) to the various population boards. We keep the third sector informed, connected and visible.

Afrikindness, established as a registered charity in 2023, is committed to advancing the education and social development of racially marginalized and socially excluded children and young people, empowering them to reach their full potential and thrive in society. Our key objectives are as follows: 1) Advancing Education: We equip parents and teachers with resources and support, promoting academic success and lifelong learning, so every child, regardless of race, has the tools they need to excel. 2) Social and Character Development: Through specialised programs and resources, we build resilience, empathy, and social skills, fostering strong, positive identities in young people. Knowing fully that the key stakeholders in a child’s development are parents and schools, we collaborate with both to support the well-being of young people. 3) Promoting Racial Harmony: We educate the public, especially parents, on racial diversity and equality, working to eliminate discrimination while fostering mutual understanding and respect across diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. Through training and intervention support, we empower parents with tools to navigate the challenges of parenting in a multicultural society. We bring disabled people and family members/carers together on line to share experiences and learn together. We offer a wide range of workshops and sessions led by people with lived experience including well being and coping with anxiety, Direct Payments, Advocacy, Social Care and Health. We give disabled people and families the opportunity to amplify their voices and a platform to have honest and well facilitated conversations.
