Would you like to join the PHAB Club? We meet at the Prince Philip Centre, Scott Hall Avenue, Leeds 7 on Friday evenings between 7.00 – 9.00 for evenings of friendship and fun. Every Friday is different – with lots of music, entertainment, discos and parties, or you can sit quietly and chat with friends. Our members are from 9 years to 90 (many are in their teens & twenties). A few members have been coming for forty years or more. We also have super outings in our PHAB minibuses: fish & chip evenings, canal trips, bowling and burger evenings and summer residentials. Where possible we provide transport. If you have a physical disability or mild learning disability, or life limiting illness or able bodied – you are welcome to join the PHAB family.

Communication Matters (CM) is a UK-wide charity committed to supporting people of all ages who find talking difficult because they have little or no clear speech. This can be via paper based communication supports or computer based voice output, we call this AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Communication can be compromised across many conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Brain Injury, Learning Difficulties and Autism. We have an associate membership of around 400 people. Members come from across the UK and from all the various interests in AAC – personal experience, professional, commercial and research. Members receive copies of our Journal which is published 3 times a year, amongst other benefits. We hold a number of events: most notably our International AAC Conference held over 2.5 days at the University of Leeds each September, as well as UK-wide AAC Information Days (product demonstration days) and Study Days which focus on a particular topic of AAC. We also have many online resources and publications and an AAC Forum. If you are interested in finding out more, please do not hesitate to contact us:

Little Hiccups is a support network for families who have children with a disability or additional need and their family. We offer the following services: Outreach Programme: Not all Parents/Carers feel comfortable in group situations. Having a disabled child can be a real roller coaster of emotions and finding the strength to take that first step towards accepting the reality can be very daunting. For those Parents/Carers who don’t yet feel ready, we are happy to meet them for a relaxed and friendly chat over coffee because sometimes making that first contact can be a big step forward! Weekly Stay n Play: A relaxed Stay n Play to suit all abilities. The sessions are held at The Vinery Centre, Mencap Leeds. We offer a safe environment with a soft play and sensory room along with sensory toys suitable for all needs. It is a relaxing atmosphere where the child will be allowed to play and discover the world at their own pace. Monthly Family Fun Days: Something for all the family. Siblings and other immediate family are also welcome. Every month we host a Family Fun Day where we organize an event at reduced cost so that it is everyone can attend. […]
