The Leeds Local Offer brings together information about all the services available in the city for children and young people aged 0-25 who have special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. This includes information about: · Education support · Health Services · Social Care support · Play and leisure activities · Getting ready for adult life · Education, Health and care plans We link to other websites so the information is as current as possible. If you need to talk to someone about your situation call the Leeds SEND information advice support service on 0113 378 5020. You can also drop in to any Leeds library or one stop centre for help to use the website and print off information.
LJWB is a social care charity, providing a range of registered care, community activities, and support for people of all ages. Based in the MAZ Community Centre in LS17, we deliver activities for primary age children and also provide family support for parents/carers of children with additional needs. ‘Together’ SEN Group A fun & social play session for children with additional needs. Sessions provide respite for parents/carers, and we also provide information and parent support sessions alongside the ‘Together’ programme. Sessions are on Sundays between 10-11am at the Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Community Centre. Inclusive Art Group For children /young people aged 8-13 runs on Thursdays 4:00-5.30pm. Children with additional needs are welcome and we ensure high adult to child ratios. Places are limited, and booking is essential. At The Donkey Sanctuary in Leeds, we are primarily an equine assisted activities centre, offering Donkey Facilitated Learning (DFL) sessions for vulnerable children and adults. We deliver a dedicated Schools Programme, which sees around 75 children with additional needs each week attending from mainstream and SILC schools across the region. For children who are not quite ready to fully engage with our DFL programme, we also offer Barn Management, which puts elements of our wider work in a fun and informative setting. We also offer a Saturday Club on the first Saturday of each month, which is an extra bookable opportunity for parents/carers to bring along children with additional needs and their families, to benefit from our equine assisted activities. As our busy timetable allows, and by prior arrangement, we can also accept visiting groups: be it from other charities or local support groups; schools and nurseries; day centres and residential homes; or nursing homes and hospices. These are an extra opportunity for us to give the wider community a taste of the work we do here at The Donkey Sanctuary Leeds, and also find out about our fantastic herd.
