Geeks Room CiC provide an alternative environment to the traditional school, where children are able to learn through gaming (GamEducation) and practical based lessons. All the lessons are conducted by mentors, each lesson is tailored to the needs of the individual child and in line with the school curriculum. We cater for children 8-18, for all abilities and capabilities and we especially want to support children with special needs. The aim is to be inclusive to all at the centre and provide an interactive and fun approach to learning while in a safe environment and having the freedom to socialise with all.

Leeds Mencap supports children and young people with a learning disability, their parents and carers, from across Leeds. We also support adults with learning disabilities. We provide support and opportunities in the following ways: Hawthorn specialist playroom: Through the playroom, very young children with additional needs are provided with specialist development support through play. The children can attend from age 0 – 3years old. They attend for one day a week from 9.30am – 2.15pm. Parents/carers stay on site and are supported by the Family Support Coordinator. The Coordinator facilitates parents/carers to provide informal support to each other and also provides information, advice and guidance. ABC Leeds is a voluntary support group for families who have children or young people with or without a diagnosis of autism/Asperger syndrome. We offer advice and support on any issues concerning or surrounding autism and do this via monthly drop in at Leeds Central Library, monthly evening meetings, Facebook, twitter, email or the telephone and a monthly information sheet that advertises not only what we do as a group but whatever is happening in and around autism in Leeds.
