The Elves and The Shoemaker

Family Fun Day

Winter is most certainly here, and we have a lovely cosy Sensory Open Day on Saturday 6th December based on the traditional tale of “The Elves and The Shoemaker”. Come in from the cold to explore the shoemaker’s house, and the mischief within, in one of our drop-in sessions at either 11am – 12.30pm or 2pm – 3.30pm. Inclusive Football at Broomfield

Family Fun Day Sport

SNAPS offers friendly, inclusive football sessions for children with additional needs and their siblings, aged 4–16. All abilities are welcome, with a focus on fun! Sessions run every Saturday between 9:30am and 1:30pm at the Broomfield site, with four one-hour classes tailored to different age groups and abilities. Afrikindness, established as a registered charity in 2023, is committed to advancing the education and social development of racially marginalized and socially excluded children and young people, empowering them to reach their full potential and thrive in society. Ladybower Fisheries.

Ladybower Fisheries is in the heart of the Peak District National Park. We have a team of dedicated qualified staff and volunteers and offer assisted fly fishing sessions on accessible boats or pontoons. These sessions are especially tailored for people with disabilities, regardless of age, enabling them to take up fishing for the first time, or to get back in to fishing after a life changing event. Working in partnership with the British Disabled Angling Association (BDAA) we may be able to fund the fishing events at Ladybower Fisheries and provide adapted fishing equipment as required. All our activities are fully risk assessed by lead fishing coaches who are certified safeguarding and first aid trained and hold a valid enhanced DBS, our power boat operators are all RYA trained and able to assist people with disabilities. Site visits from individuals or groups are welcome before any activity takes place.

PhysCap.

PhysCap is a Yorkshire charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children suffering from physical and learning disabilities. Run entirely by volunteers meaning every penny raised goes directly to those in need, PhysCap carry out fundraising events over the course of each year so as to be able to support families with children 18 years and under. PhysCap offers assistance to individual children as well as groups of children for example within schools by way of specialised and therapeutic equipment, residential breaks and play schemes and other practical aspects of daily living. PhysCap is happy to consider applications from children with or without diagnosis as long as it is supported by an Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist or alternative professional body.
