Smilers for ages 8-18 on a Saturday morning, every 2 weeks. This week with a drum workshop with Matt Evans.

The session is now longer to allow families to stay for a cuppa and a chat. A team member will be there providing refreshments, and please feel free to bring a packed lunch.

You can book onto the session here.

These sessions encourage children to explore their imagination and use their bodies through play and movement. Accessible to all – we use props, craft, music and singing to promote a creative environment full of fun.

Here is what the session will look like this week:

  • 11.15 – 11.45 – A movement based warm up led by the young people.
  • 11.45 – 12.45 – Drumming workshop with Matt Evans music.
  • 12.45 – 1.15 – Snacks/picnic lunch and refreshments, space for parents and children/young people to chat or play together.

Katie Aynsley, who runs the sessions, has experience of working with children, young people, and adults with disabilities. She has volunteered, assisted, and taught a wide range of accessible and inclusive dance sessions within the community. She is now the academy dance tutor for Mind the Gap theatre company in Bradford and a dance support worker for Mesh Dance an inclusive youth dance company in Leeds. Katie is also a support worker providing support in the community for families and young people with additional needs.

Siblings are welcome and feel free to bring lunch/snack to have afterwards. Bookings will close at 9am Saturday and please remember to cancel your place if you can no longer attend. Enjoy!
