In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st*) Oakwood Cinema are supporting Sunshine & Smiles to raise funds and build awareness. Oakwood Cinema will be donating all profits from their special screening of The Peanut Butter Falcon on March 26th. They will also be screening a short film called ‘S.A.M’ which stars CBeebies newcomer George Webster (who also works at our cafe 21 Co.!). It’ll be a fun night. *The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. The workshops are held at our office in the Carlisle Business Centre, Carlisle Road, Bradford, BD8 8BD. They start at 10.30 am and finish at 1.30 pm, with a short break for lunch. We provide a pack of notes, drinks and biscuits, and a light snack. These sessions will give you a good understanding of what should be in your child’s EHCP, and there will be plenty of time to discuss any issues you are having. ABC Leeds

ABC Leeds is a voluntary support group for families who have children or young people with or without a diagnosis of autism/Asperger syndrome. We offer advice and support on any issues concerning or surrounding autism and do this via monthly drop in at Leeds Central Library, monthly evening meetings, Facebook, twitter, email or the telephone and a monthly information sheet that advertises not only what we do as a group but whatever is happening in and around autism in Leeds.

Ladybower Fisheries.

Ladybower Fisheries is in the heart of the Peak District National Park. We have a team of dedicated qualified staff and volunteers and offer assisted fly fishing sessions on accessible boats or pontoons. These sessions are especially tailored for people with disabilities, regardless of age, enabling them to take up fishing for the first time, or to get back in to fishing after a life changing event. Working in partnership with the British Disabled Angling Association (BDAA) we may be able to fund the fishing events at Ladybower Fisheries and provide adapted fishing equipment as required. All our activities are fully risk assessed by lead fishing coaches who are certified safeguarding and first aid trained and hold a valid enhanced DBS, our power boat operators are all RYA trained and able to assist people with disabilities. Site visits from individuals or groups are welcome before any activity takes place.
