Dates for your diary: Our Early Years SEND Coffee Mornings with Stay and Play are BACK from 23rd September. For parents of children aged 0-5 with additional needs. These sessions are free, informal and the perfect opportunity to meet other parents and chat to our family services team! The kettle will be on and our softplay will be open for any attending children! There’s no need to book.

Booking released Wed 5th Oct at 6pm Little Hiccups hire out one of the cinema’s for Little Hiccups families and provide a relaxed showing with reduced lighting and reduced sound. I am currently confirming if this showing comes with subtitles and audio descriptions. If you need these, please mention in the comments. DEX Deaf Experience

Deaf EXperience Limited (DEX) is a charity which campaigns nationally to improve access to education, wellbeing and quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing young people. We support deaf young people across Yorkshire to meet other young deaf people and to share their experiences. We welcome young people with any level of deafness and all communication methods. We deliver a variety of events where deaf young people can have fun, learn something new and meet others! We have two different groups. The DEX Deaf Youth Hub (DDYH) is for 11 to 17 year old’s and the DEX Deaf Youth Council (DDYC) is for 17 to 30 year old’s. Interpreters are at all events to help everyone to chat and make friends! Do you work with deaf young people aged between 11 and 30? Are you based in Yorkshire? We can come to your school, college or organization to deliver a FREE outreach session to explain what we offer for deaf young people! We also offer Deaf Awareness training for organizations, companies, care homes and other youth facilities

Downs and Special Friends

Downs and Special Friends (DNSF) is a registered charity based in Batley, West Yorkshire, dedicated to supporting children and adults with Down Syndrome, Autism, ADHD, and other diagnosed or undiagnosed disabilities. Established in 2016, DNSF provides inclusive, community led services that prioritise wellbeing, access, and opportunity. We run regular social and recreational sessions, advocate for disability rights, and support families through practical help, awareness campaigns, and peer networks. Our work also includes strategic projects such as the community led revival of Batley Baths, to ensure accessible, sustainable, and inclusive spaces for all.

Family Action’s WESAIL

Wakefield Early Support Advice Information Liaison (WESAIL) is available to parents and carers of a child or a young person, who has, or may have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25 years who are living within the Wakefield District. This service is also available to young people themselves and those working with families. Wakefield Early Support, Advice, Information and Liaison (WESAIL) provides a free, confidential and impartial service – which means we do not take sides and try to ensure everyone is given opportunities to express their views and feel listened to. WESAIL provide information, advice, support and signposting according to need by either by telephone or where needed on an individual or targeted basis or through events and workshops. We share details of events on the Local Offer, our facebook page and provide information through the Information Network. WESAIL offers information covering a range of matters relating to Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) including education, health, social care, personalisation, personal budgets along with benefits and leisure.
