Ladybower Fisheries is in the heart of the Peak District National Park. We have a team of dedicated qualified staff and volunteers and offer assisted fly fishing sessions on accessible boats or pontoons. These sessions are especially tailored for people with disabilities, regardless of age, enabling them to take up fishing for the first time, or to get back in to fishing after a life changing event. Working in partnership with the British Disabled Angling Association (BDAA) we may be able to fund the fishing events at Ladybower Fisheries and provide adapted fishing equipment as required. All our activities are fully risk assessed by lead fishing coaches who are certified safeguarding and first aid trained and hold a valid enhanced DBS, our power boat operators are all RYA trained and able to assist people with disabilities. Site visits from individuals or groups are welcome before any activity takes place.

Go Kids Go.

Go Kids Go have been running wheelchair skills training for young wheelchair users since 1990. The training is designed to enable independence and to help ensure that the young people are able to reach their full potential. We run workshops for manual and powered wheelchair users. Some of the skills we teach on the workshop include back wheel balancing, road safety, manoeuvring skills and emergency evacuation as well as an introduction to wheelchair basketball. We bring extra wheelchairs so that parents, siblings and friends can join in with the activities. We also run disability/wheelchair awareness workshops in mainstream schools for pupils and staff. TV presenter Ade Adepitan MBE, learnt wheelchair skills with us as a young man and is now a patron of Go Kids Go.

Flamingo Chicks.

Flamingo Chicks provides inclusive ballet classes, giving children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy ballet alongside their friends We are passionate about providing an inclusive, fun and rich dance experience for children, by translating a version of ballet that is accessible to all, regardless of disability.  Our classes are great fun – a mixture of dance and drama with lots of sensory equipment, storytelling and characterisation with the aim of improving balance, co-ordination, social skills and confidence. We have all kinds of children in our classes including children who are visually impaired, those with autism, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome or other complex needs and those without additional needs. We also support children with illnesses, such as those undergoing treatment for cancer. While the children explore movement their parents and carers benefit from a vital support network. We also have a large network of volunteers, who provide vital help either in our classes or by volunteering their services, such as costume makers, photographers and set designers. Our vision is a world where disabled people have the same range of opportunities, and a culture of integrated social and well-being activity, where everyone works together as equals.
