Family Fun Day Meetup

This Saturday (26th August) we are hoping as many of our families as possible can join us for a summer get together and picnic. Grab some food and a blanket and come and find us on the grass at Temple Newsam from 11:30-13:30. There is also lots of lovely grounds to explore, a playground and a farm to visit (free with Max card). Later this month, the Policy and Campaigns team will be running on-line workshops for parents/carers and young people with a vision impairment. Guide Dogs is leading on the creation of a CYP support pathway for professionals and we want to capture families’ views about what information they need to know as they navigate each stage of the pathway. We will feed this into the plan and make sure healthcare, social care and education professionals understand how to deliver informative, person-centred care. The Eden Dora Trust for Children with Encephalitis.

The Eden Dora Trust for children with Encephalitis was formed specifically to offer support to children and their families affected by Encephalitis and childhood Acquired Brain Injuries through support, information, education and research. We support children in hospital with Encephalitis and families after hospital discharge, advice on re-integration to school, different forms of rehabilitation, along with working on an Acquired Brain Injury schools award and much much more including raising awareness and funding research into the causes, diagnoses & treatments of Encephalitis/A.B.I; We hold study days & fund training workshops for families, teachers and health care professionals involved with the ongoing care and rehabilitation of children affected by Acquired brain injury and this life changing illness. Helping children and their families feel less isolated, different, misunderstood and alone. The Eden Dora Trust works with the help of their extensive advisory panel and is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to children who suffer from Encephalitis, that anyone can get, at any time. Wakefield Early Support Advice Information Liaison (WESAIL) is available to parents and carers of a child or a young person, who has, or may have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25 years who are living within the Wakefield District. This service is also available to young people themselves and those working with families. Wakefield Early Support, Advice, Information and Liaison (WESAIL) provides a free, confidential and impartial service – which means we do not take sides and try to ensure everyone is given opportunities to express their views and feel listened to. WESAIL provide information, advice, support and signposting according to need by either by telephone or where needed on an individual or targeted basis or through events and workshops. We share details of events on the Local Offer, our facebook page and provide information through the Information Network. WESAIL offers information covering a range of matters relating to Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) including education, health, social care, personalisation, personal budgets along with benefits and leisure.
