Peeps’ book club

Meetup Wellbeing

The Peeps’ book club is a great chance to connect with other H.I.E. families without the full focus being around H.I.E. life. The session is 30 minutes (life is busy!), and we’ll be doing all we can to help ensure that time is purely for you – no children, no talk of H.I.E., just a place to come together and chat over the book that’s been read. A small way of fitting in some important self care to your routine. The sessions are online, peer-led and you’ll always receive a warm welcome. If you haven’t been before, please don’t worry, […]

Trauma and brain recovery

Educational Webinar

We will be running our ‘Trauma and Brain Recovery’ online session. The Peeps online Trauma and Recovery Session is 1 hour and covers how the brain and body are affected by trauma (physical or emotional, experienced or witnessed) and some ways we can start to heal that trauma.  The session is not H.I.E. specific but does consider the lived experiences of our H.I.E. families, both at the birth and as their journey continues.    As well as considering the physical, mental and emotional effects of trauma, the session also introduces a range of support and a ‘toolkit’ to initiate and continue the […]

Additional Needs Advice
Family Fund.

Family Fund provides grants to families raising disabled and seriously ill children aged 17 and under. Our grants support a family, improve their well-being, increase quality of life and ease many of the pressures they often face. We are a registered charity and the UK’s largest provider of grants to families living on low incomes who are raising disabled or seriously ill children. Our grants bring practical and essential help that is often a lifeline to a family such as washing machines, fridges, bedding, specialist toys and much-need family breaks. With limited funding we try to help as many families as we can. We use our own eligibility criteria to ensure that we only help families in the most need.  We will consider helping a family once every 12 months and will usually look at a grant application 12 months from the date of the last grant. Depending on what a family have asked for, we will award a grant in a number of different ways. We work in partnership with a range of providers who help us to make our funding go further and help us to evidence that the grant awarded is used for the purpose it is […]

The Children’s Trust.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability. We deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through skilled teams who work with children and young people aged 0-18, and their families.   The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Community Service provides specialist goal-orientated neurorehabilitation delivered in the child’s environment, either at home, in school, or a combination of both settings. Delivered by specialists from a range of clinical backgrounds, we work with the child and their family in a non-intensive, consultative way focusing on the needs which result from an acquired brain injury. These may be social, emotional, cognitive, communicative, and behavioural needs. Our ultimate goal is to maximise the child/young person’s participation in their everyday life.   In partnership with Leeds Children’s Hospital, we have a clinical specialist based in the hospital who provides information, education, advice and support to families and other professionals. In addition, we also provide long-term support to the child and their family at key transition stages such as starting school, moving to secondary school or college, starting a new job or leaving home to live independently for the first time.   In addition, The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Hub […]
