The William Merritt Centre provides impartial information, advice and assessment on equipment and practical aspects of daily livings for disabled people of all ages, their carers and professionals. Anyone can contact the centre directly for an assessment, alternatively referrals can be made via GPs, OTs and other health care professionals. Our paediatric Occupational Therapists offer assessments involving: buggies, wheelchairs, wheelchair accessible vehicles, beds, seating and Try B 4 U Fly. The centre also provides a service called Switches 4 Kidz, whereby we provide impartial information, advice and assessment about adapted toys and switches for children, families and professionals and the centre has developed a loan library of adapted toy and switches for families to borrow. Following on from this we provide assessments for accessing games consoles, computers, iPads, phones etc. and run regular accessible gaming drop in sessions during school holidays.
