SNAPS started in Leeds in March 2004 by a group of parents who had identified an unmet demand for hydrotherapy, swimming and physical activity experiences for children with additional needs. From that modest beginning, we have continued to grow. We now deliver a consistent support service to around 100 families each week, and continue to involve parents at all levels.

SNAPS supports children with additional needs and their families through physiotherapy, leisure services and a supportive environment. These experiences can be life changing, helping the whole family relax and enjoy time together.

SNAPS offers a range of services, including:

  • Hydrotherapy
  • Swimming
  • Rebound therapy
  • Football
  • Stay and play
  • Other therapies including dance and yoga
  • Holiday activities
  • Family support
  • Parent and carer groups
  • Parent and carer wellbeing sessions

SNAPS is an inclusive organisation, involving the whole family, including siblings with no additional needs. The charity is currently based at Penny Field School in North Leeds and Broomfield School in South Leeds, but provides support for children and their families from across the West Yorkshire region.

SNAPS will also launching sessions at Co-op Academy Brierley, Cross Green, Leeds, from September 2025.

Children do not need a formal diagnosis to access SNAPS’ services. Families can self-refer, or be referred by another organisation. Sessions must be booked in advance.
