Residential Short Breaks

Aireborough Supported Activities Scheme organise between 5 & 8 residential short breaks per year. The first of these takes place in Spring and the last in Autumn. We cater for children & young people aged  8 years to 18th birthday, who have additional needs.

ASAS Activity Day

Activity Day

ASAS also run Activity Days for children aged 8-18 years who live throughout Leeds Centre Based – these take place at Lineham Farm Children’s Centre and are aimed at children who prefer a less structured and busy environment; activities include animal care, climbing wall, adapted bikes, Sensory Caravan and walks in the countryside. Community Based – these take place in Kirkstall at the Leisure complex and are aimed at children who can cope with an organised programme of activities and cope better with busy and noisy environments; activities include bowling, lunch in a restaurant and cinema to see a film.​

Playscheme

ASAS run play schemes for children and young people with additional needs* during the Easter and Summer holidays and a Christmas Activity Day in December, these are only for children aged 5-18 years, who live in the Aireborough area of Leeds (LS5, 16, 18, 19 20 & 21) and they are usually based at Green Meadows School, Guiseley. *This includes; learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, complex health needs and more. DEX Deaf Experience

Deaf EXperience Limited (DEX) is a charity which campaigns nationally to improve access to education, wellbeing and quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing young people. We support deaf young people across Yorkshire to meet other young deaf people and to share their experiences. We welcome young people with any level of deafness and all communication methods. We deliver a variety of events where deaf young people can have fun, learn something new and meet others! We have two different groups. The DEX Deaf Youth Hub (DDYH) is for 11 to 17 year old’s and the DEX Deaf Youth Council (DDYC) is for 17 to 30 year old’s. Interpreters are at all events to help everyone to chat and make friends! Do you work with deaf young people aged between 11 and 30? Are you based in Yorkshire? We can come to your school, college or organization to deliver a FREE outreach session to explain what we offer for deaf young people! We also offer Deaf Awareness training for organizations, companies, care homes and other youth facilities

Leeds Mencap

Leeds Mencap is an independent charity providing specialist, practical, emotional and social support to over 600 children and young people with learning disabilities and their families across the city, each year. Our services include: Youth Club for 9-13 year olds and 14-18 year olds: Youth Clubs run on alternate Tuesdays for each age group. They offer children and young people with a learning disability a chance to meet new friends, to get involved in a variety of activities, and to have fun in an environment that is both welcoming and safe. Sibling Support Group: The Siblings Group (Sibs) provides a great place for young people who have a brother or sister with a learning disability to come together and have fun. As well as giving young people the chance to access information, these groups allow them to socialise and meet new friends, and to share their experience of having a brother and sister with a learning disability within a welcoming and supportive environment. The Eden Dora Trust for Children with Encephalitis

The Eden Dora Trust for children with Encephalitis was formed specifically to offer support to children and their families affected by Encephalitis and childhood Acquired Brain Injuries through support, information, education and research. We support children in hospital with Encephalitis and families after hospital discharge, advice on re-integration to school, different forms of rehabilitation, along with working on an Acquired Brain Injury schools award and much much more including raising awareness and funding research into the causes, diagnoses & treatments of Encephalitis/A.B.I; We hold study days & fund training workshops for families, teachers and health care professionals involved with the ongoing care and rehabilitation of children affected by Acquired brain injury and this life changing illness. Helping children and their families feel less isolated, different, misunderstood and alone. The Eden Dora Trust works with the help of their extensive advisory panel and is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to children who suffer from Encephalitis, that anyone can get, at any time.
