Scope Transitions zoom workshops for parents/carers in Leeds.

Educational Webinar

After the success of SCOPE’s behaviour workshops they are running a NEW Transitions zoom workshops for parents/carers in Leeds. This aims to help parents / carers prepare their child/young person to return to school or an activity setting. Dates of the upcoming workshops are: ·         Wednesday 12th August at 4pm ·         Thursday 27th August at 11am (Limit of 12 per session) Please email leeds@scope.org.uk to book places.

Smilers Singing for ages 8-18 with Made with Music

Parents Connect online 6-week course

Parents Connect is a 6-week support programme for parents and carers of young disabled people. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, sessions will be run online until further notice. Using an inclusive approach the Mini Movers Dance Sessions are created to encourage the children to explore their imagination and use their bodies through play and movement. Props, music and singing are used to promote a creative environment where the children can have fun and the sessions are made accessible to all. We are delighted to be restarting our 0-3s group in person on Monday. Our lovely 0-3’s group is a time to chat and share a cuppa with other families, as well as singing & signing with toys & activities. Siblings are always welcome to join in! Magic Cycling Hour Sessions

Family Fun Day Sport

On Sunday, Dave, from I Want To Ride My Bike will be running 1:1 cycling sessions for Sunshine & Smiles families. Individual Times have been sent out to people attending this session. A future session is planned and we will be in touch this week with the date to people who expressed an interest. Dave has experiencing of teaching children with Down syndrome & Autism to ride and we hope to continue to run these 1:1 sessions for our Sunshine & Smiles families. Are you interested? Interplay Theatre

Interplay Theatre tours annually to arts venues and SEN schools with sensory theatre work specifically designed for young people with complex needs. With a strong aesthetic and touching narratives, our performances give young people with PMLD the chance to experience high quality theatre in school, like other young people their age. From our theatre building in Armley, we run our community programme, LS12 Creative and we offer open days, performances, projects and sessions for young people with Additional Needs.

LJWB

LJWB is a social care charity, providing a range of registered care, community activities, and support for people of all ages. Based in the MAZ Community Centre in LS17, we deliver activities for primary age children and also provide family support for parents/carers of children with additional needs. ‘Together’ SEN Group A fun & social play session for children with additional needs. Sessions provide respite for parents/carers, and we also provide information and parent support sessions alongside the ‘Together’ programme. Sessions are on Sundays between 10-11am at the Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Community Centre. Inclusive Art Group For children /young people aged 8-13 runs on Thursdays 4:00-5.30pm. Children with additional needs are welcome and we ensure high adult to child ratios. Places are limited, and booking is essential. Family Support We provide advice and support for children and families with additional needs. Please contact the Family Support Team on 0113 203 4916 for further information.

DEX Deaf Experience

Deaf EXperience Limited (DEX) is a charity which campaigns nationally to improve access to education, wellbeing and quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing young people. We support deaf young people across Yorkshire to meet other young deaf people and to share their experiences. We welcome young people with any level of deafness and all communication methods. We deliver a variety of events where deaf young people can have fun, learn something new and meet others! We have two different groups. The DEX Deaf Youth Hub (DDYH) is for 11 to 17 year old’s and the DEX Deaf Youth Council (DDYC) is for 17 to 30 year old’s. Interpreters are at all events to help everyone to chat and make friends! Do you work with deaf young people aged between 11 and 30? Are you based in Yorkshire? We can come to your school, college or organization to deliver a FREE outreach session to explain what we offer for deaf young people! We also offer Deaf Awareness training for organizations, companies, care homes and other youth facilities
